Ondanks eerdere berichtgeving zal het Onslaught /Legions /Scourge block een jaar langer in het Extended formaat speelbaar zijn. Het zal pas uit roteren in oktober 2009.

In oktober 2008 zullen de volgende sets uitroteren:

Seventh Edition - Core Set
Invasion - Planeshift (PS} - Apocalypse
Odyssey - Torment - Judgement

De nieuwe, officiële berichtgeving hierover luidt:

"Extended is the last seven years of Magic blocks and core sets."


De volgende rotaties zullen als volgt gepland zijn:

Legale Extended blocks Oktober 2008:
Onslaught, Mirrodin, Kamigawa, Ravnica, Time Spiral, Lorwyn/Shadowmoor, "Rock"
Core Sets 8th, 9th en 10th

Legale Extended blocks Oktober 2009:
Mirrodin, Kamigawa, Ravnica, Time Spiral, Lorwyn/Shadowmoor, "Rock", "Live"
Core sets: 8th, 9th, 10th en 11th

Legale Extended blocks Oktober 2010
Kamigawa, Ravnica, Time Spiral, Lorwyn/Shadowmoor, "Rock", "Live", "Lights"
Core sets: 9th, 10th en 11th

3) The new Extended rotation policy is easier to remember.

You've probably memorized it already:

"Extended is the last seven years of Magic blocks and core sets."

No more asking...

"When does Extended rotate?"

or...

"What rotates out of Extended this time?"

or...

"Hey, what's legal in Extended these days?"

Because now the answers are always consistent and predictable. To me, the result is an Extended format that is fundamentally the same as it ever was, just more stable and more fair to each block.
