Ik ga zelf niet zo super diep als het om regels gaat maar het is volgens mij vrij simpel, je Island is een swamp vanaf het moment dat hij op de battlefield komt, dus zal de trigger van de staff af gaan.

Ja, de ability van Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth is static en geldt dus vanaf het allereerste moment dat het landje binnen de lijnen van de battlefield is.
De Island komt dus als Island Swamp de battlefield binnen. Staff of the Death Magus ziet dat en triggert om die reden.
Het idee is hetzelfde als bijvoorbeeld: Centaur Courser, Gaea’s Anthem en Kavu Lair.
(State-based actions en layers hebben er overigens niks mee te maken.)
Triggert deze ook, als ik een Island in het spel leg, als er een Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth in het spel ligt? Want dit heeft te maken met hoe state base effects, triggers en layers met elkaar werken.
Wil het graag even zeker weten. Als het niet triggert, zal ik 'm niet overwegen in mijn Sol’kanar the Swamp King-deck

Each of these artifacts cares about any land with the appropriate basic land type. For example, Staff of the Sun Magus’s ability triggers when any land with the subtype Plains enters the battlefield under your control, not just lands named Plains.

Most nonbasic lands don’t have basic land types, even if they produce colored mana. For example, Caves of Koilos is neither a Plains nor a Swamp. Having one enter the battlefield under your control won’t cause Staff of the Sun Magus’s ability to trigger.

If you cast a copy of a card that’s a certain color, the appropriate Staff’s ability will trigger. However, if you copy a spell on the stack without casting that copy, it will not.
