Concordant Crossroads Alles krijgt haste.
Crucible of Worlds En fetch. Doing
Defense of the Heart Deze kaart zorgt toch altijd weer voor een paar 'oh nee he' reacties De kaart zegt genoeg.
Doubling Season Uiteraard een must have met deze commander.
Emeria Angel Hele leuke landfall kaart. Nice
Entreat the Angels Perfect in dit deck!
Hazezon.
Exploration Zegt genoeg
Explosive Vegetation Ramp.
Furystoke Giant Schietende tokens. Woei
Garruk Wildspeaker Must have.
Garruk, Primal Hunter Tja. Must have.
Grazing Gladehart Thematische life gain.
Harrow Harrow!
Knight of the Reliquary Zoekt belangrijke landjes zoals High Market.
Kodama’s Reach Manaramp.
Krosan Grip Obvious.
Life from the Loam Haal 3 fetches terug voor nog meer landfall of revive landjes zoals High Market.
Lotus Cobra Onderschat kaartje in EDH.
Oracle of Mul Daya Meer landdrops.
Parallel Lives Meer tokens.
Primeval Titan Tja obvious.
Reap and Sow Removed of zoekt land. Prima
Relic of Progenitus GY removal is belangrijk uiteraard.
Reliquary Tower As usuall. Een must have in elk EDH deck.
Rites of Flourishing Beetje grouphug.
Do I need to say more?
Seed the Land Leuke grouphug achtige kaart.
Sigarda, Host of Herons Twijfelgeval. Ulasht, the Hate Seed .
Solemn Simulacrum Obvious.
Soul’s Majesty Card draw is fijn.
Sword of the Ages Wat een heerlijk obscure kaart.
Tooth and Nail Super tutor
Woodfall Primus Non-creature removal. Erg belangrijk (net als terastodon) tegen dingen als propaganda etc.
Yavimaya Elder Obvious.
ARTIFACTS:
Chromatic Lantern: In this deck, this card cannot be excluded. We want to spam bouncers as much possible, so we need certain colored mana as much as possible, depending on which bouncer we have in our hand. The Lantern makes sure we don't have to worry about this since we can spam the creatures as much as we have mana. I'm thinking about including Prismatic Omen, but i'll have to test more to see if it's really needed.
Claws of Gix: This can be an important card depending on the meta yo play in. Not only does it function as a sac-engine to get rid of Hazezon (before his trigger goes off), it can be used to sacrifice your own permanents when opponents try to steal them. Or against a Zedru player that keeps giving you annoying permanents.
Cloud Key: Choose 'creature' and cast your bouncers cheaper for even more ETB triggers.
Darksteel Plate: Not 100% sure about this inclusion. It still needs testing. But I think it can come in handy to protect card draw engines like Primordial Sage from (own) mass removal.
Erratic Portal: Use it to bounce creatures like Acidic Slime to hand for re-use without 'losing' a bouncer. Some other uses could be:
- Saving important creatures from getting destroyed
- Bouncing Kor Skyfisher back to hand after it bounced Exclusion Ritualfor re-use
- Political use: "I'll bounce your Rune-scarred Demon, so you can recast it and search for an answer to his token army. Or we both die…"
- To bounce a creature from an opponent when he or she is tapped out. It happens .
Conclusion: Not only in this deck, but in many other nonblue decks ('they' have Crystal Shard) this is a very versatile card.
Expedition Map: Basically an extra Reliquary Tower or High Market (to sacrifice Hazezon with for example).
Genesis Chamber: Yep, it works for all players making its use twofold: People will like you for giving out free tokens, and there is no way anybody will get more tokens out of it than we do.
Gilded Lotus: Much needed (colored) mana ramp. And late game it's never a dead draw. At least not in this deck.
Shrine of Loyal Legions: In a three color deck this seems a ridiculous card to include. But with six white bouncers (it's becoming a strange term already) in the deck, this will do well. That's a lot of tokens. Just make sure you keep three mana to your disposal in case an opponent wants to destroy it. This thing grows fast and players probably want to get rid of it.
Sol Ring: Plurl...
Sword of Feast and Famine: Its sole purpose in the deck is untapping lands so we can spam more bouncers. Just equip it on a critter if there's nothing better around and attack a player that cannot block it. Untapping is all we need.
CREATURES:
Acidic Slime: Bounceble removal? Yes please!
Brutalizer Exarch: I cannot believe I never played this creature in any of my decks before. It gets rid of any annoying noncreature permanents without an easy way for an opponent to get it back, or it can be used as a rather expensive, though potentially re-usable tutor. Awesome unit this is. The high mana cost is not even that much of a problem, because we get to fetch it with:
Fierce Empath: This card is really important. It fetches card draw engines or answers to most problems. And again: It can be bounced and re-used.
Indrik Stomphowler: Extra Acidic Slime.
Primordial Sage: One of our card draw engines. I try to protect it any way I can, even if it means giving up a bouncer like Whitemane Lion. Unless I don't have other bouncers in hand. Though I found during testing that people don't tend to find it that scary. Maybe I was just lucky.
Soul of the Harvest: Better than Primordial Sage. It doesn't only work with bouncers, it also works wonders with Norin and Saltskitter.
Vengevine: Woaa, I put this card in because I thought it just fit the theme. Little did I know it would actually be good in an EDH deck. Even if it dies, it will return the next turn, every turn, forever. It can even be saved from graveyard hate by casting a bouncer twice in response. Most of the time I cast a bouncer twice to shoot 4+ damage on creatures (killing them), get vengevine back for free and shoot 4+ more damage on creatures. Then attack with haste. It's also a wonderful tool to recover quickly from a boardwipe.
Woodfall Primus: Hopefully WotC will create another creature like this some time. No idea how that would look, but I'm getting a bit tired of auto-including this in every green deck. It's just that good though.
Hamletback Goliath: Hehe. What a ridiculous creature this is. It fits the theme perfectly and it becomes a 20/20+ creature within one or two turns easily. We don't have any way to give it trample though, but a Sword of Feast and Famine will work just as well in a lot of cases. Killing al blockers with triggers works as well, or tapping them…
Norin the Wary: Who doesn't love this card? It's funny and used to seem completely unplayable. In EDH it of course isn't. In this deck however, it's ridiculously good . Drawing a card in each player's end step while blazing triggered damage around is fun. Norin kicks as while he's not even present to enjoy it, or be scared of it.
Purphoros, God of the Forge: Shouldn't this card be banned? I'm still not sure. It seems way too powerful with token engines. It works wonders in this deck in combination with bouncers. But cast Purphoros, then cast Hazezon and see what happens next upkeep… Personally I don't like to win that way every game, but it's a possibility to tutor for if needed. It works extremely well with the idea of the deck and I'm glad that it doesn't seem broken in this deck. In my meta people start to play more and more exile effects too, so dealing with it shouldn't be too much of a hassle now days. It is the reason that I don't run Ashnod's Altar and Food Chain though. It's not really where I want to take this build.
Academy Rector: Sadly she can't kill herself with the help of Pandemonium, but maybe we have a second damage engine on the board. Or maybe we just sac it to High Market. Or maybe we just kill it with a bouncer. However we do it, she must die. Awww.
Angel of Finality: Much needed (re-usable) graveyard hate.
Banisher Priest: Basically a commander killer. I use it on the generals of other players. It gets almost certainly rid of the risk of an opponent getting his creature back because the priest died.
Emancipation Angel: Very people friendly this card is indeed. It's one of the bouncers I was talking about. It also can be used to return a card like Exclusion Ritual to hand for re-use.
Kor Skyfisher: Cheaper and easier to cast than the Angel.
Saltskitter: Most of the time it will enter the battlefield at the end of each player's end step, triggering different abilities we control. It's also fairly hard to destroy. If an opponent triest to destroy it, just cast a flashy bouncer in response.
Stonecloaker: Maybe one of the most underplayed cards in all of EDH? In this deck it's a bouncer that exiles cards your opponents wanted to revive from a graveyard. Flash bounce is powerful in this deck and the extra bonus is useful.
Stormfront Riders: It's better than it looks. This functions as an expensive self-bounce creature, as a token engine that triggers on self-bounce creatures, AND most importantly, you can bounce itself and another creature like Acidic Slime back to your hand for repeatable re-use shenanigans. It is however pretty clunky.
Suture Priest: It will generate nice amounts of life gain. Against token decks it's a killer. Equip Darksteel Plate on it in those situations. It's pretty nasty.
Whitemane Lion: THE most important bouncer in this deck. The leader of the bunch if you will. It's cheap, and it has flash. I hope WotC makes another one of these in a future set. With a different name that is of course .
Fleetfoot Panther: Not as easy to spam, but it does have flash. It has 3 power which is nice too. If it's the only option in sight while having a combo engine ready, tutoring for [CARD]Chromatic[/Lantern] (if possible) is an option worth considering.
Harmonic Sliver: Potential re-usable removal like Acidic Slime. It's so cheap though!
Horned Kavu: 2 mana? Check. 3 power?? Check
Sparkcaster: Still not sure about this big guy, but lets do the math. two colorless and two colored mana. 5 power. With Warstorm Surge or Pandemonium on the board, this means more value for less mana. A Horned Kavu and Whitemane Lion would be needed to do as much damage for the same kind of mana cost. And then I forgot about that little extra ping to a player. Having that said, it still feels clunky at times. Because it is only better when Panda or Surge are on the board. WotC please print another cheaper option.
ENCHANTMENTS:
Cream of the Crop: I thought it would work well in this deck, but it's actually pretty insane. Being able to dig through the deck repeatedly, choosing the best card, and then draw it if one of the draw engines is online, is nice.
Mana Reflection: Need I say more? Double the mana to spam bouncers. Great . I might even test Mirrari's wake at some point for an extra chance to this boost.
Primeval Bounty: This card is like Disney Land in this deck.
Onslaught: For some reason I've never really drawn this card. So I'm not sure yet how well it works. It can be used with flashy bouncers to tap potential attackers. It can also be used as a political tool. "If you want to attack him, I could tap his creatures for you."
Pandemonium: One of the damage engines. Watch out though, it bites back. Though we will get way more out of it than any other player. And if someone does hurt us too much with it, it's probably time to stop playing around and cast Hazezon.
Warstorm Surge: It's like a one sided, more expensive Pandemonium. Pretty much, yep.
Blind Obedience: Extort can be nice in times in need of life. With cloud key and one of the cheaper bounce creatures it effectively won't cost any more to pay for the extort (just a lot of colored mana). Mainly I put it in the deck to slow aggro based decks and artifact decks down a bit. This deck needs a bit more time.
Exclusion Ritual: Exiling stuff is very powerful in EDH. I don't care if it costs 6 mana. Especially because it can potentially be re-used since some of our bounce creatures can bounce permanents.
Quest for the Holy Relic: Ultra cheap. Five counters will be on there in no time, and it's not susceptible to removal. It's almost certainly an auto-fetch for SOFAF, making it a 'free' land untap tool. It fits the theme perfectly also.
Aura Shards: Actually this card reads: Any artifacts and enchantments your opponents control are no more, nor will they ever be again.
Legion’s Initiative: Not so sure about this card in the current build anymore, but I'm still giving it a try. I use it to save our combo engines in creature form and to slightly beef bouncers for more direct damage.
INSTANTS:
Beast Within, Chaos Warp, Swords to Plowshares: Because instant spot removal is very very important. And in these three colors we have a couple of the best options available in Magic. So why not play them?
Worldly Tutor, Enlightened Tutor: Obvious inclusions in combo/control are obvious. We can even use Worldy tutor to find Academy Rector with whom we can find a combo piece of some sorts.
SORCERIES:
Boundless Realms, Cultivate, Explosive Vegetation, Kodama’s Reach, Skyshroud Claim: Mana ramp. It's the standard mana ramp package I put it in most green decks. In this deck, more land is always welcome.
Glimpse of Nature: One time use, but even drawing 'only' 4 cards while shooting damage and creating tokens, is enough for me to include it. We all need card draw and it fits the theme perfectly too.
Praetor’s Counsel: A-m-a-z-i-n-g card. The sheer card advantage it creates late game is enough to put an end to games most of the time.
Primal Command: I somehow forgot how good this card really is. Life gain, stall, anti-mill, and a tutor in one.
Rout and Wrath of God: Every deck needs a reset button...
DECK TACTICS
Control:
This deck plays like a combo/control deck more than anything else. The deck isn't very fast so during the early rounds of games it's important to focus on using all available ramp spells before doing anything else if possible. If there's a player with a fast aggro deck that starts attacking us, some spot removal (or a board wipe in extreme cases) will buy us some time. The deck contains lots of noncreature removal too, so destroying permanents that put a fast clock on the game, or shut down the deck, is not a problem. Early in the game mana ramping and slowing down the game, are very important tactics. When there's enough potential mana on the board, start dropping combo pieces to take further control.
Tutors need to be used not only to get the strongest cards out of the deck, but to get the cards needed to start the combos or control the game to gain more time. I often tutor for Whitemane Lion because its such a good and cheap combo enabler. Though it depends on the hand I'm holding of course.
Being patient:
Overextending with this deck is something to avoid (of course that goes for most decks). Having one damage combo engine on the board is enough. Only when I'm sure I can finish the game by dropping a second one I do so. The reason is that, if someone casts a card like Oblivion Stone and activates it immediately, we lose multiple win conditions in one wipe. I like to avoid that from happening. This deck plays like a control deck, so take it slow; dealing small amounts of damage to destroy creatures that are a threat. This way other players won't be alarmed by the combo too much. They'll probably even like it when you get rid of annoying creatures as long as they're not their own. When they least expect it, this deck will suddenly get into high gear and put a clock of about one turn on the game if not finishing it at once. As soon as one of the card draw engines is online, the path of destruction is almost inevitable. I guess some players will not hesitate to destroy this card advantage. Darksteel Plate certainly comes in handy here.
